Filled Up

"that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:19)

The apostle Paul reaches across the span of almost 200o years to pray for us. He prays that God might work in our hearts in such a way that we may comprehend the love of Christ, how deep and wide it really is. He prays that we might be strengthened by the Holy Spirit in our inner most being and that we might have deep roots in our faith.

I pray that for you and for me as well. I want to challenge you this morning to open a Bible to Ephesians 3, and read verses 14 through 21. Then be still and listen to God speak to your heart. Ask God to fulfill this prayer in your life today.

I encourage you to receive this word from the Bible. Let it become a part of you that you might be filled up to all the fullness of God.

  1. This makes me think of a SS lesson I had not too long ago when we were discussing being filled with the Spirit and the things of God. My teacher made the point that as we seek God and ask Him to remove the things in our life that do not glorify Him, we have to remember to ask Him then to fill up those "empty spaces" with His Spirit, His love for others, His mercy, and all the characteristics of Jesus. This should be what we long for, to be more like Jesus everyday. We are all filled with "somethings". If we are not filled with the things of Christ, we are surely going to be filled with the wrong things. This has been something that has stuck in my mind ever since. When I ask God to remove the pride in my life, I have to remember to ask Him to fill that "empty space" with His humility. Remove the worry, fill the "empty space" with His peace. This has made a huge difference in the way I pray about changes in my life. I want to be filled up to the fullness of God.
